Members of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God on Hagley Park Road yesterday marched from the church to Half-Way-Tree where they staged a peaceful protest against abuse against women. They dressed in black and carried banners and placards raising awareness of violence perpetrated against the fairer sex and decrying the acts. According to one of the banners, the group, lead by the church's women's association, also offered "practical help and spiritual healing for all women who have been victims of abuse". The event which was held under the theme 'Break the Silence, End the Violence', came on the eve of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women which is being observed around the world today.
